SECTOR: EARLY CHILDCARE
From concept plans to completed playspace, this new build has been carefully shaped into a dynamic environment where tamariki can explore, imagine, and thrive through play.
We teamed up with Happy Learning Childcare Millwater to design a playspace for their brand-new early learning centre. From the outset, the goal was clear: to create a space where curiosity, movement, and imagination support tamariki through all stages of their early development. We worked closely with the educators at Happy Learning Childcare to turn their ideas into a learning environment that is both engaging and practical.
The finished playspace offers a wide range of play opportunities, including open turf areas for modular equipment and loose parts play, sensory spaces with planting, textures, and varied surfaces, sandpits for digging and creative play, and elements that allow tamariki to move through physical challenges at their own pace. This nature-inspired environment gives every child the opportunity to explore, imagine, and build new skills. The layout supports small adventures, shared play, and hands-on discovery that encourages learning through experience.
It has been rewarding to see the centre come to life, with tamariki confidently exploring, playing together, and making the space their own. We also value our ongoing relationship with Happy Learning Childcare as they continue to focus on creating thoughtful, well-designed play and learning environments.
