Pokeno School’s new playground in Waikato is a nature-inspired space that brings together movement, imagination, and creativity. What was once a flat, open area has been transformed through thoughtful, holistic playground design into a dynamic playground that encourages active play, exploration, and meaningful connection.
The playground design focused on creating a natural flow through the space, combining durable materials with organic forms and numerous opportunities for play and discovery. The result is a playground that feels open and inviting, with varied levels and textures that encourage adaptive play and allow the space to evolve alongside the students of Pokeno School.
Working alongside the Pokeno School team throughout the playground build was a highlight of the project. Their enthusiasm and clear vision helped shape a playground that reflects their commitment to student wellbeing and the school’s community values. Seeing students fully immersed in the interactive playground created for them has been a proud and rewarding experience for our team at Playscape.
