SECTOR: EARLY CHILDCARE
Tucked away in lush native bush in Auckland, Gaia Forest Preschool is an early childcare centre where tamariki are surrounded by New Zealand’s greenery every day. Playscape was invited to design and build a nature play space that encourages curiosity and adventure while maintaining a deep connection to nature.
Working closely with the passionate team at Gaia Forest Preschool, we drew on their commitment to nature-based education and wove it into every element of the design. We focused on creating opportunities for children to get creative with climbing, balancing, and imagining in various ways throughout their beautiful backyard. Every part of this outdoor play environment is designed to feel open-ended, evolve with the seasons and be shaped by the tamariki themselves. At Gaia, nature isn’t just a backdrop, it’s everything, and we were incredibly proud to be a part of this magnificent project.
